The TegadermTM line of medical dressings from 3M protects wounds and IV sites in the hospital, nursing home and homecare settings, helping to improve patient outcomes. High quality combined with high value and potential cost savings make TegadermTM skin and wound care solutions a top choice among clinicians, patients, and hospital administrators worldwide.

Healthcare professionals have relied on the TegadermTM family of transparent dressings for IV site care for more than 20 years. With this solid history and foundation of quality and performance, customers have asked for more TegadermTM products to improve their patient care. As a result, TegadermTM brand is growing. Now, with more than 40 dressings that can ve used for multiple applications, the TegadermTM brand is expanding to include a broad array of dressings for advanced wound and surgical site care.

TegadermTM Brand’s Heritage of Quality
For years, TegadermTM dressings have incorporated 3M’s patented product designs, adhesive, polymer, and transparent film technologies, providing clinicians with products that are clinically effective, dependable and trusted. This trust has been earned by a brand that promotes best practices for infection frisk reduction and provides clinical outcomes data. In addition a customer-focused approach enables the development of new designs on an ongoing basis to simplify dressing application and monitoring.

Key product features that have continued to support the customer benefits mentioned above include:

• Transparent film- developed to allow versatility for use with both IV and wound care
This is the most visible and recognized technology in TegadermTM dressings. The thin, conformable film performs as a selective filter. The film allows oxygen in and moisture vapour out, keeping IV sites dry; while for wounds it seals in natural wound fluid to enhance the healing process. It allows clinicians to monitor the wound site without removing the dressing, which can lead to longer wear time and fewer dressing changes. This, in turn, may save supply cost and nursing time as well as provide better patient comfort.

• Adhesive – tow different adhesive systems to allow a choice for clinical situations
TegadermTM adhesive adheres to skin but can be easily removed with a stretch technique or low and slow method to minimize discomfort for patients. The second adhesive (HP “ Holding Power” version) is based on a solventless technology and offers better stick on moist skin. Both durable adhesives may result in longer wear time for patients and therefore, potential cost savings.

• Shape and Structure – conformable to adapt to difficult-to-dress areas
Notches and reinforced borders allow for dressing application with ease and stability. The dressing construction also provides a better seal around catheters and reduced edge lift.

TegadermTM Brand’s Future of Growth
These have been our signature product attributes up to 2005. Building on a track record of quality and performance, the TegadermTM Brand is expanding from product of choice for transparent dressings to include a growing array of wound care and surgical site products that protect and help heal.

In addition to promoting the best clinical practice, the TegadermTM product line includes easier product selection from illustrated packaging and easy-to-teach, easy-to-follow usage instructions. Healthcare professionals can select the right product based on function, size and shape.

The newest member of the TegadermTM family is 3MTM TegadermTM Absorbent Clear Acrylic Dressing, indicated for use on pressure ulcers, skin tears, and donor sites. Transparent and absorbent, it offers better fluid management and wear time than the leading hydrocolloid dressing*
