ALBAWABA - An aerial attack on Russia's Belgorod left at least five people killed and more than 18 people injured, the city's governor stated.
Social media videos showed a damaged shop surrounded by rubble in the city's southwest. Another video captured blasts and sirens overhead.
An aerial attack on the Russian city of Belgorod near the Ukrainian border killed at least five people and injured 18 others, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov on Thursday.
"According to preliminary data, five people were killed in Belgorod, including one child, and another 18 people were injured, 5 of them children," Gladkov said in a Telegram message.
According to the Russian RIA news agency, two persons were murdered, although police have yet to confirm this. Vyacheslav Gladkov, the regional governor, issued an air alert earlier.
The defense ministry said it shot down 14 Ukrainian missiles over the region, which were launched by an RM-70 multiple rocket launcher system.
Belgorod is around 30 kilometers (19 miles) from the border and has been routinely hit by what Moscow claims is indiscriminate bombardment by Ukrainian soldiers.
