5 killed in Israeli shelling in Syria's Daraa

ALBAWABA - At least five people were killed in an attack by Israeli forces on a town in the southern Syrian province of Daraa, according to local authorities.

Syrian officials also indicated that Israeli incursion was reported into the area, forcing the displacement of Syrian residents.

The governorate announced in a statement on Telegram that five were killed "in Israeli shelling of the town of Koayiah village in the Yarmouk Basin area west of Daraa, in a preliminary toll.

The governorate said that "Israeli occupation forces penetrated" the town, after which Israeli tanks fired several shells.

The Israeli army announced in a statement that it had "exchanged fire with a number of militants in southern Syria," noting that it had launched airstrikes.
