Most job openings in Egypt are advertised in local papers rather than through other media outlets, according to the latest study cited by the Cairo-based daily Al Ahram.

The study also shows that university degree holders snatch 55 percent of the vacant posts, while those with less education secure only nine percent.

The study, which was prepared by the Egyptian cabinet’s information center, suggests that the number of vacant jobs is affected by many factors, and that the rate of advertising them varies slightly from month to month. The study further shows that this rate reaches its low ebb in the fourth quarter of every year due to the “seasonal demand for jobs, budgets and financing.”

The center’s head, Raafat Radwan, announced that the study, which was presented to Prime Minister Atef Ebaid, had revealed that there were 23,1531 job openings during the period January 2000 to January 2001. Some 54 percent of the vacant jobs were advertised in the fourth quarter of last year, versus 10.5 percent in the fourth quarter - Albawaba.com
