56 Emirati students complete DP World summer training programme
On the successful completion of their summer training programme with DP World-UAE region, a group of 56 Emirati students were presented with certificates and mementoes during a farewell ceremony held recently at the company headquarters in Jebel Ali.
The two-months summer training programme, organised by DP World, is designed to develop student’s first hand industry knowledge by exposing them to the various operations and work systems of the port operator.
Mohammed Al Muallem, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of DP World – UAE Region, highlighted DP World’s interest in developing students’ skills and providing the young UAE Nationals with an ideal working environment to spend the summer period productively.
Al Muallem stated: “DP World is committed to its social responsibilities towards the community. Our special training programmes are engineered to cater to a number of Emirati students from different educational levels. These students are offered the opportunity to learn about DP World’s various departments and their respective operations. This corporate exposure not only helps students develop their learning skills, but also helps widen their career perspectives at an early stage.”
The participating students, divided into distinct batches for each department, were trained and supervised by highly experienced DP World officers. The most promising students were honoured at the valedictory ceremony held at the end of the programme.
“Our training programme is the first work experience of this kind acquired by these students. It gives them a foretaste of the different situations they would have to face in a professional and dynamic corporate environment. We look forward to welcoming more students next year as we continue our efforts to prepare the young generation for the future of Dubai,” Al Muallem added.
DP World introduces a number of initiatives and programmes periodically to stimulate the Emiratisation process, attract outstanding and well-qualified nationals and upgrade the national employees' skills and performance.
