Some 60,000 Iranians are afflicted with AIDS/HIV, which is ten times the average global figure, said Deputy Minister of Health for Research Affairs Hossein Malek-Afzali on Monday.
Afzali, however, added that Iran is now in a better position in terms of containing AIDS. Young population, economic and social problems and industrialization are among the factors responsible for the rapid rate of AIDS contraction, he noted, according to IRNA.
