In yet another feat of global recognition, Etihad Etisalat (Mobily), Saudi Arabia’s premium mobile service provider, won the 2009 International Award for Commercial Prestige.
Beating a number of more established European telecommunications giants, Mobily deserved the award for its meticulous implementation of international quality standards with all its products and services.
In a special ceremony that saw thousands of guests at the Melia Castilla hotel in Madrid, the CEO of the Trade Leaders’ Club handed the certificate of quality and the Golden Crystal prize to Khaled Sharif, Mobily’s deputy VP for Corporate Affairs.
Sharif briefed the assembled business figures, diplomats and members of the press about Mobily’s achievements and how it managed to burn through Saudi Arabia’s hyper-active telecommunications sector in such a short period of time since its inception in 2005.
Praising his staff for their efforts in guaranteeing quality, Khalid Al Kaf, Mobily’s award-winning CEO, said Mobily’s rocketing growth is a clear indicator of impeccable strategic planning. He added that quality is always Job No. 1 at Mobily, no matter what the product or service is.
Al Kaf added that Mobily’s being named a quality leader reflects how far the Kingdom’s telecommunications industry has come.
In a note to Mobily, Arsenio Pardo Rodriguez, CEO of the Trade Leaders’ Club, said that more than 7,000 experts from 120 countries took part in the selection process. He added that Mobily’s crowning was a result of the Saudi company’s year-long efforts in adhering to strict international quality standards, in addition to the company’s contributions to the global telecommunications industry.
Not content with merely a local contender, Mobily broke out into the international arena to become a global player to be reckoned with. As early as 2005, the year the company went into actual business, Mobily surprised many when it garnered an international award for its mobile services. In 2008, Mobily won an innovation award for its services, as well as another award for the design of its outlets. Mobily was the first-ever Arab company to win the Dale Carnegie leadership award.
