Dubai Consultancy Research and Media Centre (DCRMC), one of the UAE’s leading media consultancy firms and conference organisers, has joined forces with Jane’s Information Group to launch the first event of its kind in the region – the Middle East Aviation Conference.
To be held in September 2005, the conference entitled “The impact of the A380 on the Middle East” will bring together world leaders in aviation technology, airport development, tourism and travel, as well as those directly working on the impact of the world’s biggest passenger airliner.
The Middle East region underpins the A380 order book to date. Emirates Airlines have placed the biggest order*, with commitments from Qatar and Etihad Airways also secure. Added to this the Emirates Airlines hub, at Dubai International Airport, will soon boast the world’s largest maintenance facility. As a result Dubai and the UAE will become a major tourism and transit destination. “The impact of these aircraft on the Middle East will be hugely significant,” says Ahmed Al Mansoori, President of DCRMC. “With each aircraft capable of bringing 525 passengers into the country several times a day, it’s not just the airports that have to consider how to cope, travel and tourism operators will be equally affected,” he added.
The international conference will take place on 18-19 September 2005 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Dubai. It will look to address not just the issues the A380 will bring, but the opportunities it presents. With Emirates Airlines looking to commence operations in March 2006, the A380 will significantly raise Dubai and the UAE’s tourism demands. As well as this, the conference will investigate new potential for cargo business, implications for ground handling services, safety and security, and the wider influence of the aircraft onto Asia Pacific and North Africa.
DCRMC and Jane’s will bring top ranking international speakers and decision makers to the event which is expected to attract delegates from all over the region as well as from the US, Europe and Asia.
