Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Israel must accept an Egyptian-brokered plan to end the fighting in the Gaza Strip or responsibility for the war will be on the Jewish state. In a news conference Saturday in Cairo, Abbas also called for an international force in Gaza.
The Palestinian leader said he hopes Hamas will be able to reach an agreement without hesitation to end the fighting, the AP reported.
Separately, Hamas officials are slated to meet with Egyptian officials.
The German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, is also expected to meet Saturday with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Abbas.
