Abu Dhabi Motors, the exclusive importer for BMW, Alpina, MINI and Rolls Royce in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, is proudly displaying the “Baroque Angel” BMW 502 in the Abu Dhabi BMW showroom at Umm Al Nar.

Still tempting ‘eye-candy’ for automotive aficionados to this day, the BMW 502 boasts enviable retro curves and an ultramodern 2.6 litre V8 light-alloy engine. This engine was the first eight-cylinder engine to be manufactured after the war in Germany,  generated 110hp and accelerated the BMW 502 to a top speed of 165 km/h.

“It’s a privilege to be able to give our customers and automotive aspirants a glimpse of the design heritage of BMW,” said Arno Husselmann, General Manager, Abu Dhabi Motors.

“The BMW 502 was an unattainable dream for most people when it was launched, with an exclusive price tag of DM 17,800 (US$11,500) at a time when the average wage was around DM 200-300 per month. It remains a distinct object of desire even now, and although it is not currently for sale, we encourage lovers of vintage cars to visit our showroom and take a breathtaking look at the beautiful BMW 502.”

Designer Leonhard Ischinger fitted the BMW 502 out with the first disc brakes coming as standard equipment and produced the whole car in the record time of some 8 weeks in a day and night work in 1955.

Half a century later, you have the unique privilege to see and feel this “Baroque Angel” for the first time in Abu Dhabi. Visit the BMW showroom at Umm Al Nar to enjoy this beautiful classic.
