ALBAWABA - The Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades' military spokesperson, Abu Ubaida, recently said that two guards in charge of holding prisoners had murdered one of them and gravely injured two others in separate incidents. The injured detainees are presently being worked to save their life.
Abu Ubaida warned of possible consequences that would jeopardize the lives of other prisoners and claimed complete responsibility for these acts on the part of the Israeli authorities. In addition, he said that a committee has been established to look into the occurrences' circumstances and that the results would be made public later.
In response, the Israeli military said that there was no hard evidence to support or contradict Hamas' allegations about the supposed murder and injuries to the detainees. The military went on to say that they are still confirming the veracity of Hamas' claims and will provide updates as they become available.
Following a catastrophic bombardment by Israeli forces in Gaza on Saturday that attacked a prayer hall at the "Al-Tabein" school in the Al-Daraj area, there is a current state of heightened tensions following this incident. The attack claimed more than 100 lives and left scores more injured or unaccounted for.
A possible deal to terminate the current war and set up a prisoner swap is causing major rifts between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the nation's security apparatus. Netanyahu is alleged to have imposed further requirements that the security officers believe will prevent an agreement from being reached.
