ADCB today announced it will launch co-branded Visa credit and debit cards with Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates. The agreement sees the coming together of two of Abu Dhabi’s award winning brands in an unprecedented partnership that promises to redefine the tenets of customer loyalty programs.
The alliance agreement was signed today by the CEO of ADCB, Mr. Ala’a Eraiqat, and the CEO of Etihad Airways, Mr. James Hogan, at an event held at the Yas Hotel. The new co-branded payment products are expected to be in the market within the next 10 to 12 weeks.
The co-branded credit and debit cards will be exclusively on the Visa International network, the global leader in payment cards.
Given the high propensity to travel in the UAE, for both business and leisure, financial products offering travel rewards are of specific relevance in the market. With this alliance, ADCB customers will be rewarded with Etihad Guest miles making for a superior travel experience.
James Hogan, CEO of Etihad Airways, said: “The new agreement with ADCB will greatly benefit members of our award-winning Etihad Guest program which continues to grow, allowing us to extend even greater offers to our membership base. Members will be able to accelerate points earning and will have an impressive array of Etihad flight and non-flight rewards to choose from.
“We are delighted to partner with ADCB, a leading bank which shares our vision to be the best in our respective industries.”
Ala’a Eraiqat, CEO of ADCB, said: “Co-branded cards make for an incredibly powerful customer proposition; they are good for the bank, the airlines and most importantly, the customer. Signing this agreement with our National Carrier Etihad Airways marks a new phase of growth for the ADCB consumer banking business.
ADCB has a long standing business relationship with Etihad in several areas and this alliance further strengthens the partnership, in line with the broader vision of growth and development of Abu Dhabi in particular and the UAE in general.”
Kamran Siddiqi, Visa’s General Manager for the GCC, Levant, Pakistan and Afghanistan said: ‘Visa is delighted to partner with ADCB and Etihad Airways to offer cardholders rewarding travel benefits. Visa is constantly looking for new opportunities to extend our value added products to new market segments and we are pleased to offer ADCB and Etihad Airways customers the security, flexibility and convenience of Visa credit and debit cards with exciting value added rewards.’
