India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand vie for Compaq Cup in four-match mini series to be played from September 8 to 14 in Colombo
India will seek to upstage Lankans in tri-series
Fresh from a 2-0 triumph over New Zealand in their recent test series, and following their dual triumph over Pakistan in the Test and ODI series, Sri Lanka will be looking to establish their supremacy in the triangular ODI series for the Compaq Cup 2009 between India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand scheduled to be held in Colombo from September 8 to 14. Despite a long break from international cricket after their West Indies tour in June, the Indians are also upbeat, knowing that a win in all three matches will ensure that India goes to the top of the ICC table for the first time since the rankings were introduced in October 2002.
Each team will play the other once and the top two teams will play the final of the four match tournament at the R. Premdasa Stadium in Colombo on September 14. The matches, beginning with the Sri Lanka vs New Zealand tie on September 8 to the final on September 14, will be broadcast live on Ten Sports for subscribers of Pehla Gold, Pehla Silver and Firstnet Premium, according to an announcement by Arab Digital Distribution (ADD), the largest pay television management company in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
