addf receives mars duty free retailer of the year award 62% increase in sales of Mars products

Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF) was today awarded Mars GCC Duty Free Retailer for 2007 on the back of securing massive growth in sales over the year.

“Confectionery is a strong category across the whole of the Middle East travel retail sector but Abu Dhabi Duty Free’s exceptionally strong growth in 2007 has meant that there was only one clear winner for this year’s award,” said Stuart Bull, Global Consultant to Mars ITR.

Assistant General Manager of ADDF, James McLean attributed the success to a combination of promotions and the booming growth being realized through the Abu Dhabi International Airport as Etihad Airways increases its network and frequencies.

“We have always enjoyed a great partnership with Mars and we are, of course, delighted to be recognized as the Middle East’s leading travel retailer in 2007; we hope that the growth sustained over the last year can continue from many more to come,” said Mclean.

A significant 62 percent growth in sales in 2007 put ADDF in the top slot for the year while sell out figures showed a 43 percent increase for the same period. Mars contributes 30 percent to the confectionery category at ADDF.
