Additional police have been deployed at British mosques to protect Muslims following a van attack on worshippers near a north London mosque, Prime Minister Theresa May says.

"It was an attack that once again targeted the ordinary and the innocent ... this time British Muslims," she said, referring to recent terrorist attacks in Manchester and London.

"Hatred and evil of this kind will never succeed," May said
