Tirad Mahmoud, CEO of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a top-tier Islamic financial services group, today announced that its summer internships program had kicked off with the enrolment of 100 UAE national students. They will be interns at ADIB for the two months of July and August 2010 and have been assigned their roles at ADIB offices across the UAE. They have also been introduced to ADIB and to its products and services suite.
50 UAE national students from the Northern Emirates and 50 from the Abu Dhabi and Al Ain region were chosen from applicants for hands-on exposure to work life while still at school.
ADIB’s summer internship program was open to UAE national students between 16 and 21 years of age who are studying in high school or are under-graduate students. Preference was given to secondary school students. They were required to submit a copy of their passport or UAE ID copy and their latest school certificate.
Commenting on the internship programme, Waheeb Khazraji, ADIB's Head of HR said, “Our summer internships demonstrate our commitment to the development of UAE national talent and is in line with our other training initiatives. We aim to generate positive awareness and real experience of jobs that UAE national students can aspire for when they qualify with their degrees. This hands-on, first-person experience cannot be replicated in classroom learning. They are expected to contribute their ideas and innovations for the further improvement of our products and services during their tenure. ADIB may also consider hiring them full-time once they complete their education.”
