Cyviz, a leading developer of premium display walls for collaborative environments, emphasised on the advantages of integrating collaborative technologies within the academic field and highlighted its steady demand from the educational and industrial fields despite the economic downturn, during a seminar titled ‘Borderless Collaborative Education’ that was held recently at the state-of-the-art Cyviz Technology Center (CTC) in Dubai, which is one of four such centers in the world.

Collaborative systems are widely used in enterprises to enhance operational efficiency and are considered productive instructional tools throughout the modern academic world, especially in higher education. Studies prove that visually-assisted learning improves student performance in terms of retention, comprehension and organisation. The free Cyviz seminar discussed advanced technology-enabled collaborative techniques used by industry and how they can be applied to the academic setting. It also examined high performance three-dimensional (3D) visualization systems for data visualisation, engineering simulation, and materials analysis.

“In today’s digital age, users are often overwhelmed by the wealth of information that is available and needed for decision making, problem solving and knowledge building. Collaborative environments provide a more understandable graphical representation of information. They are revolutionizing the learning process and raising the productivity of cooperative work within and among academic and industry researchers and practitioners,” said Joar Vaage, CEO, Cyviz.

The seminar outlined the benefits of promoting a culture of online participation and activity-based learning in educational institutions. It also explored the use of video communications to teach today’s students, who tend to be attracted to technology and mobility. A live video feed discussed the use of video conferencing to enhance professional development. The event gathered representatives from education ministries, school officials, educators and technology planners and featured a special workshop on Visualization Science.
