Head of Afghanistan's television, Aziz Aryafar, said that there is no limitation to the Persian programs of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Broadcasting (IRIB) and that they are in serious need of IRIB (radio and television) contribution in this respect.
Aryafar told the Iranian official news agency (IRNA) on Saturday, "Afghan TV needs interesting programs in line with their language and culture in order to attract the residents of Afghanistan's capital city of Kabul."
He added that currently there are thousands of satellite receivers throughout Kabul used by 70 percent of its population merely to watch Iran's television programs.
He said that the interest of Afghans in IRIB is a call upon Iranian authorities for donating tens of films and serials to Kabul television to improve its programs.
He added, "A number of Iranian films and serials were broadcast from Kabul TV before the rule of Taliban."
Aryafar added that once Afghanistan's TV succeeds to respond to the public demand, they would not be attracted to foreign television broadcasts. He noted that a lot of Kabul people call for broadcasting the programs of IRIB channels three and one.
He underlined that Iran and Afghanistan which have a common culture and language should direct their attempts towards strengthening and elevating their culture.
He also called for the cooperation of IRIB television and radio broadcasting in training the required technical and artistic personnel of Afghanistan's television, adding that the majority of their professional personnel have migrated to other countries within the past six months. (Albawaba.com)
