ALBAWABA - Afghanistan's government (The Taliban) has performed a public execution of a man who was convicted of two murders, AFP reported, citing the Afghan Supreme Court.
The execution took place in western Afghanistan on Thursday, the Afghan Supreme Court said.
People gathered at a sports stadium in Qala-I-Naw, the capital of Badghis province, to watch the execution, the statement read.
The Taliban government, since retaking power in 2021, has been conducting public executions. A matter that was condemned by human rights groups. So far, 11 men have been publicly executed by the government.
The United Nations slammed it, referring to executions as "contrary to Afghanistan’s international human rights obligations, and must cease."
