Ahmadinejad: Iran to participate in international conference on Iraqi security

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Sunday agreed to take part in the international conference on Iraqi security. In a phone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maleki Sunday declared Iran's agreement to attend the upcoming Sharm el-Sheikh meeting in Egypt.


According to IRNA, Ahmadinejad said that the Iranian delegation will be Led by Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki. The president's decision was made in response to the call from Iraqi prime minister to that effect.


The Sharm el-Sheikh meeting is scheduled to be held on May 3-4.

 

Meanwile, Iran's Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani left Tehran for Baghdad Sunday to hold talks with Iraqi officials. Larijani discussed various issues with Iraqi officials including the upcoming international meeting in Sharm el-Sheikh on Iraqi security.
