Ahmadinejad: No one can prevent access to nuclear technology

Access to nuclear knowhow is the right of the Iranian nation and such technology is in the minds and hands of Iran's youth, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday.

Addressing residents in the provincial city of Ardakan in Yazd province, the president said: "Enemies are using the UN Security Council as a tool to prevent the Iranian nation from achieving development and progress." He said they will fail as "no one can ever prevent Iranians from achieving progress."

Referring to the mounting threats of additional sanctions on Iran, Ahmadinejad reminded the enemies that sanctions have long been imposed on the country but still it had managed to achieve success in the nuclear field. "You can again impose sanctions on us and see for yourselves what effect they will have."

Turning to the subject of another anti-Iran resolution which reportedly could be passed next week by the UN Security Council, the president said, according to IRNA, "orders and decisions of the kind have no importance to the Iranian nation."

The president, moreover, implied that Western countries' influence in the international community was diminishing and advised them "not to isolate themselves even more."

He once again gave assurances of the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities, saying they were "completely legal and monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)."
