President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday warned the West against double-standard and deceitful policies in resolving Iran's nuclear case. "If the Iranian nation and government come to the conclusion that Western countries do not have the goodwill (to resolve the nuclear issue), they will change their policy regarding the package of incentives," the Iranian president said, according to IRNA.
"Nobody should expect that tense relations which have existed for several years can be settled in a very short period of time," he advised the European governments.
The Iranian government is studying the proposal and is trying to find a positive response to it, Ahmadinejad noted.
He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran was doing its best to be able to give its response to the proposal by the end of the Iranian month of Mordad (August 22), and warned that "exacerbating tensions in the region will be to the loss of the Europeans." The Iranian nation and government are powerful enough as to be insured from any harm that tensions can cause, he added.
The Iranian leader said the fact that the Islamic Republic of Iran is studying the proposal shows Tehran's good will.
Referring to the Zionist regime as a spurious entity, he warned its supporters that any assistance to the regime would make them accomplices to its crime of genocide and other illegal acts in the Occupied Territories and its Muslim residents. "The Zionist regime was created through oppression and terror," Ahmadinejad said, and added that its continued commision of crimes will accelerate its fall.
