Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday called on regional nations to preserve their vigilance to thwart "conspiracies of enemies." According to IRNA, Ahmadinejad held talks with the visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem in the western Iranian city of Hamedan on the latest developments in the region particularly in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon.
The Iranian leader said the US strives to interfere in affairs of the Middle East given the sensitivity and importance of the region. He added that the US administration is engaged in numerous activities in the region because of the internal situation in that country, failure of its policies against Iran, Syria and other regional countries and the upcoming presidential election.
According to him, the "US fans the flames of conflicts in Iraq" to achieve a victory for electoral purpose. He added Washington attacks its opponents in Iraq and makes efforts to overthrow the national Iraqi government.
