ALBAWABA- In a historic shift, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, General Commander of Syria’s new leadership, has assumed the responsibilities of the presidency following the overthrow of the previous regime.

Speaking at the People’s Palace in Damascus, Al-Sharaa delivered a "Victory Speech" before representatives of military and revolutionary factions under the "Deterrence of Aggression" operations room.

He emphasized the urgent need to fill the power vacuum, ensure civil peace, rebuild state institutions, and establish a sustainable economic structure to restore Syria’s regional and international standing.

Al-Sharaa declared that this victory is not merely about military triumph but must be defined by justice and mercy, calling on Syrians to embrace the responsibility of rebuilding their nation.

In a key development, an expanded meeting of military and revolutionary factions discussed officially appointing Al-Sharaa as President of the transitional phase.

Among those present was Salem Turki Al-Atari, commander of the Free Syria Army, who offered congratulations on the revolution’s success.

Meanwhile, the Military Operations Department announced a complete military restructuring, declaring the dissolution of all militias formed under the ousted regime and the formation of a new national army based on professional and inclusive principles.

Colonel Hassan Abdul Ghani, spokesperson for the department, confirmed the revolution’s final victory and outlined plans to integrate all military, revolutionary, and civilian formations into the new state structure.

In anticipation of nationwide celebrations, Al-Sharaa urged the Syrian people to take to the streets peacefully, discouraging gunfire or any actions that could endanger public safety. This moment marks the dawn of a new era in Syria, as the leadership moves forward with the task of rebuilding the nation.

On his part, the Spokesperson for the Military Operations Department in Syria announced today that the President of the Republic has been authorized to form an interim legislative council to govern the country during the transitional phase.

Until a permanent constitution is drafted and enacted, the People's Assembly will assume its legislative duties.

This decision marks a crucial step in establishing a stable governance framework following the revolution’s victory, ensuring legislative continuity while paving the way for a new political order in Syria.
