Ahmed al-Sharaa visits Damascus Airport

ALBAWABA - Syria's new leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, formerly known as Abu Mohammed al-Julani, visited Damascus International Airport, SANA reported.

Al-Sharaa's visit was planned on the same day, Damascus Airport resumed full work for the first time since the ousting of former President Bashar Assad and the ex-Syrian regime. 

Damascus Airport resumed normal flights and work on Tuesday, Jan. 7. 

The first plane to land in Syria airport came from Qatar and was carrying Syrian expatriates and Arab citizens. 

Syrians were welcomed by a number of their families, volunteers from social organizations, and civil defense members, in addition to the presence of the media.

Director of the airport Anis Falouh told Al-Araby Al-Jadeed that all programs have been activated at Damascus Airport to meet the conditions required for receiving and departing flights.

On Tuesday, a Jordanian civil aviation team arrived at Damascus Airport to assess technical, and logistical conditions in preparation for the resumption of flights in the Syrian airport.
