Close on the heels of the recent launch of its new corporate identity, Al Islami Foods, the region’s leading provider of halal food, has announced the completion of its restructuring process, pointing out that the new approach would allow the company to simplify its structure, reduce costs and place greater focus on its customers.

The move comes at a time when Al Islami Foods is poised for greater regional growth and is expanding into newer markets such as Europe, Iran and the Levant countries. Al Islami’s restructuring process will introduce regional teams of resources and give managers greater responsibility for customer sales and services in geographical territories.

Outlining the restructuring process, Saleh Abdullah Lootah, CEO of Al Islami Foods, said: “Al Islami expects a significant growth in its profits and we are keen that we have the right people and infrastructure in place to realize this ambition. With demand for halal food soaring worldwide, we look forward to consolidate our penetration into the new markets with experienced teams who have in-depth experience of the local markets.”

Lootah added that Al Islami Foods’ decision to undergo restructuring was based on the company’s commitment to strengthen its strategic operations in major local markets and to provide a consistently positive customer experience – from a diversity of products to committed consumer relationship system.

The restructuring process will see a number of FMCG professionals taking up key responsibilities within the company. As part of this process, the core team will see Hasan Rimawi, Al Islami’s Productivity Process Manager, being promoted to Chief Technical Officer, overseeing supply chain, manufacturing facility, warehousing & logistics, quality, research and development.
With a rich experience in leading international organizations such as Compaq and the Campbell Soup Company, Rimawi’s focus at Al Islami Foods will be the restructuring of the technical department towards building a strong base capable of fueling more innovative products and yielding effective systems to meet the company’s aggressive growth. Previously he also led the implementation of 6 Sigma and Waste Buster programs within Al Islami Foods that allowed managers to improve their operational areas.

Sales Manager Mamoon Al Qaryouti embraces a new role as Chief Operating Officer. An MBA (Marketing) from the American University of Dubai, Al Qaryouti, a Jordanian national, has a rich experience in some of the prestigious organizations in the UAE, the United States and Jordan.

Strategic IS Manager P. Sushil Kumar has been promoted as the Shared Services Director, who was responsible for administering and managing the SAP environment and complete networks of Al Islami. Sushil, a MBA (Finance) from MAHE, Dubai, led the company through a major SAP process re-engineering initiative in 2005. As Shared Services Director, he will be heading the Support functions, Finance, HR and IT.

About Al Islami Foods
Established as CO-OP ISLAMI in 1981 to satisfy the growing demand for real Halal food in the Arab world, AL ISLAMI FOODS was formed as a result of the long relentless efforts commenced in the early seventies when Hajj Saeed Bin Ahmad Lootah instituted Dubai Co-operative Society. Starting with its successful frozen chicken product line, AL ISLAMI FOODS expanded its operations to include mutton and beef.

In 1991, Dubai Co-operative Society's efforts were culminated by establishing its "CO-OP ISLAMI" meat processing plant in Jebel Ali Free Zone. This plant is considered a recognizable breakthrough as it became the real producer of a variety of food products under the name "CO-OP ISLAMI", after being produced outside the country on its behalf. AL ISLAMI FOODS products are considered as quality benchmark trusted by consumers across the UAE and the GCC, and this has made it one of the best and most preferred brands in the region.
