The Abdullah Azzam Brigades, a Lebanese Sunni jihadist group affiliated to militant group Al Qaeda, has claimed responsibility for a twin suicide bomb attack in Beirut on Tuesday morning that targeted the Iranian embassy.
The claim of responsibility for the bombing was made by the Abdullah Azzam Brigades' leader, Sheikh Siraj al-Din Zureiqat, in the name of Saraya al-Hussein bin Ali, according to a BBC report.
The leader warned that attacks would continue in Lebanon until Iranian forces left Syria and prisoners were released in Lebanon, the BBC added.
The explosions, that targeted the vicinity of the Iranian embassy and a popular suburb of Beirut where Iranian diplomats often stay, have killed at least 22 people so far, according to the Iranian cultural attache..
