ALBAWABA - Exclusive video that Al Jazeera received and aired demonstrates a recent operation by Hamas' military arm, Al-Qassam Brigades, against Israeli soldiers in the Netsarim axis in southern Gaza. The video shows a daring operation in which two Israeli military jeeps were attacked by four Al-Qassam fighters who had infiltrated the region.
The Israeli forces suffered heavy injuries as a consequence of the militants' successful planting and detonation of two explosive devices, according to Al-Qassam's statement. The event happened in the southern section of the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, which is a vital corridor that divides Gaza's center and southern districts from its northern one.
Scenes of Al-Qassam fighters quietly advancing into position open the video. A combatant recognized as a member of the 2024 enlistment class is observed committing the operation to Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the Hamas political bureau, who was just killed in Tehran. Israel received a severe warning in the fighter's letter, which predicted that 2024 would be a "terrifying year" for the country.
The video then shows the attackers setting up the explosives and closely monitoring Israeli military operations. One of the jeeps had a strong explosion as a result of the following detonation, while the second vehicle was damaged to the point that it had to halt. After that, the Al-Qassam fighters left the area in safety.
A combatant may be heard threatening Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with other strikes in the near future. A last scene in the video shows the body of an Israeli soldier being removed from the scene.
In a further statement, Al-Qassam took credit for another operation that took place on Saturday, in which two anti-personnel bombs went off close to two Israeli jeeps, inflicting more injuries on Israeli soldiers in the vicinity of Tel al-Hawa's University College.
Al-Qassam added that after the battle, Israeli helicopters could be seen removing soldiers. This is Al-Qassam Brigades' second major operation in as many weeks; on July 10, they attacked Israeli command forces in Rafah, southern Gaza.
