The leaderships of the National Progressive Front (PNF) branches in the governorates has resumed discussions under the chairmanship of PNF Deputy Chairman and Vice President, Mohammed Zuhair Masharqa. During the meeting Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Farouk al Shara made an overall political review of the Syrian foreign Policy on regional, Arab and international levels.

He indicated that the current international situation has been the most complicated one since the Second World War, and the reason for this is not only because of the number of victims who fell in the events of Sept. 11th in New York, but also because such a complication in these circumstances is unprecedented, and many people do not understand precisely what had happened, and many can not expect what will happen next.

Al-Shara added that if Bin Laden’s al-Qaeda network was responsible for all the tragic attacks in New York and Washington, one might wonder who facilitated its mission and helped it carry out such highly complicated mission where all the means which were used were American made ones.

the Syrian news agency SANA reports that Al-Shara stressed there are other political, financial, information and intelligence means to combat terrorism, emphasizing

that Syria is against any military act that is targeted against Arab or Islamic country.

Al-Shara blamed the Arabs for not dealing properly with

the events of Sept.11th when the United States was in need of the Arabs and Moslems. According to him, Arab solidarity was strongly shaken and Israel exploited this and succeeded in connecting terrorism with the resistance and assassinated the Palestinian leaders under the pretax of combating terrorism.
