A 5.4-magnitute earthquake has shaken Alaska’s most populated region, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. Monday’s earthquake, while causing no injuries or major damage, is Alaska’s largest. This is the 274th earthquake in the past week.

“It was a good one,” a spokeswoman for the Anchorage Fire Department told the Los Angeles Times. “Oh, yeah, we definitely felt it. It shook and then it subsided a bit and then it shook again,” she added.

The quake, lasting several moments hit at 11:28 a.m. local time with its epicenter about 60 miles northwest of Anchorage. Gov. Sarah Palin wrote on her Twitter account, “All shook up . . . thankful there are no reports of injury or damage.”
