US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will organize a visit to North Korea by US President Bill Clinton when she visits Pyongyang, a joint US-North Korea statement reported by all North Korean state media said Thursday, reported (AFP)

Albright on Wednesday accepted an invitation to visit North Korea and its Stalinist leader Kim Jong-Il, as both sides pledged to dispel 50 years of bitter Cold War rivalry.

Albright made the landmark announcement at a dinner in Washington hosted by Kim's special envoy Vice Marshal Jo Myong-Rok, after two days of intense talks on a raft of issues including Pyongyang's missile program and alleged links to terrorism.

Announcing Albright's plan to prepare the way for Clinton to visit the isolated country, North Korean state media said the two sides also agreed to seek ways to officially end the Korean War by replacing the 1953 armistice with a full peace treaty.
