ALDAR Properties’ academic body, ALDAR Academies LLC is to open its first school on September 10th. The school, which will be named The Pearl Primary School is based in the centre of Abu Dhabi and will be the first of ALDAR Academies’ 20 new schools in the next five years. ALDAR Academies has been inundated with applications for The Pearl Primary School, reflecting the importance of education to Abu Dhabi’s growing population.
“The opening of the first ALDAR Academies school is a tremendous landmark to have achieved. The Pearl Primary School is a reiteration of ALDAR’s intent to build sustainable communities. World-class education is an integral element in making these communities sustainable and we have a clear plan to ensure our residential developments provide the best schooling,” said Ahmed Al Sayegh, Chairman, ALDAR.
ALDAR Academies LLC aims to fulfil a number of educational and societal remits that will complement the wide ranging developments in Abu Dhabi. Many of the newly established schools will be integrated into the new communities that ALDAR are developing and these schools will provide international standard academic facilities including state-of-the-art class rooms, sporting amenities, dining facilities and the latest Information Communication Technology systems available. Crucially, ALDAR’s schools will include a variety of the most internationally accepted curricula including International, American and British systems.
“ALDAR Academies LLC is run on a not-for-profit basis but we have designed our system to ensure that any surpluses will be reinvested to ensure that the amenities, educational resources and staff are of the very highest standards. Our Professional Development Programme will ensure that all the teachers in our schools buy in to our ethic and understand the long-term needs required to nurture all of the cultures that we will cater for,” said ALDAR Academies, Managing Director, John Curley.
Meanwhile, The Pearl Primary School’s inaugural Principal believes that all of the schools established by ALDAR will develop cross cultural understanding and the sensitivity to produce genuine international citizens.
“Education is crucial and our curricula will produce pupils who are critical thinkers, who will contribute to society and are life-long learners. Our differentiated interactive learning approaches will take account of every individual in our school and will ensure that all schools produce the modern international citizen; culturally sensitive and caring.
