The Alexandria Library is Egypt's fourth pyramid, and will play a unique cultural role in the world of intellectuals and knowledge-seekers, according to Egypt’s First Lady Suzanne Mubarak.
The library will be inaugurated next April 23, making it the first and grandest library to open in the third millenium, reported Egypt Online.
Mubarak said Saturday that “world countries and leaders are looking forward to the inauguration of the library,” according to Egypt Online.
In a speech during a ceremony held in Alexandria to announce the names of the library's board members, Mubarak spoke highly of the library as the first institution of its kind to be born in the IT age.
“The library will open its doors to knowledge-seekers in autumn of next year, with scientific conferences and cultural symposiums beginning as of October of next year,” she said – Albawaba.com
