Nine soldiers were killed and 12 wounded on Saturday during an ambush by an armed group in the area of Tizi Ouzou in Kabylia.
The soldiers were heading back to their camp when armed assailants set off a bomb in the soldiers' pathway as they drove down a forest road, some 80 kilometers northeast of Tizi Ouzou, and then opened fire on them, according to Algeria’s News Agency APS. The region of the attack is situated east of Algiers.
The attackers subsequently fled into the Bounaama forest, the agency added. (Albawaba.com)
