Algeria to Privatize 184 Establishments over the Next Three Years

121 Algerian corporations have been targeted for privatization over the next three years as from the year 2001, according to Hamid Tammar, Algerian Minister of Participation and Reforms Coordination. 

Forty two of the companies to be privatized are subsidiaries of public holding companies and other 79 are subsidiaries of the State holding companies operating in the fields of services, building materials, food industry, Tammar said in a statement to the press, quoted by Al Sha’b Arabic daily. He added that the remaining 63 companies would be partially privatized. 

According to an official at the Algerian embassy in Amman, the Participation and Reforms Coordination Ministry has been created recently to take over economic reform in the country, with a focus on the privatization process – Albawaba.com
