ALBAWABA - Algerian authorities called on 12 French officials to depart the country in two days (48 hours), AFP reported citing France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.

According to Jean-Noel Barrot, the decision has possibly a relation with the arrest of three Algerian nationals in France.

"I am asking Algerian authorities to abandon these expulsion measures... if the decision to send back our officials is maintained, we will have no other choice but to respond immediately," France's FM added.

On April 11, Paris prosecutors indicted several Algerians, including a consular official, on suspicion of involvement in the abduction of an Algerian influencer, named Amir Boukhors, in a Paris suburb back in 2024.

It is worth noting that Amir Boukhors, commonly known as "Amir DZ", is an opponent of the Algerian government and has over a million followers on TikTok.
