The Arab film industry, particularly Algerian, is assuming a high profile at the Freyburg International Film in Switzerland.
This event, scheduled for March 12-19, will include 70 films out of which 10 are competing to get the best awards, al Youm daily reports. These films are from Asia, Latin America and Africa. The Festival outlines the importance of the North African film industry and features 23 leading Algerian movies. These works will be screened in a special session devoted to the Arab films from 1930 to 1998. Besides Algeria, other Arab movies will come from Egypt, Kuwait, Palestine, Tunisia, Sudan, Morocco, Mauritania, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq. Many famous Arab producers are expected to attend this event.
During the festival, there will be an important discussion regarding the future of the Algerian cinema with the participation of the distinguished producer, Muhammad Bu Amari. This discussion will be attended by other Arab producers such as the Sudanese, Muhammad al Sharif, the Moroccan Ahmed al Ma'nouni, the Tunisian Abd al Latif Ben Imar and Naser al Khatib.
