ALBAWABA - The Algerian Civil Defense Authority has reported a positive development in their ongoing battle against forest fires that ravaged nine provinces in the northeast of the country.

While significant progress has been made in containing the blazes, firefighting efforts persist at two specific locations where complete control has not yet been achieved.

In an official statement released by the Civil Defense Authority, it was disclosed that "Out of the 39 separate sites affected by forest fires across cities such as Tizi Vizu, Bicaye, Burc Burayrac, Buvera, Bumerdas, Hanşala, Kalima, Cicel, and Tebessa, 37 have now been fully extinguished."

The statement underscored the crucial role played by firefighting teams from neighboring regions, alongside the deployment of two aircraft and helicopters, in combatting the wildfires. It was further stressed that dedicated efforts continue at two specific locations to completely douse the flames.

Importantly, the statement also confirmed that, fortunately, there have been no reported casualties linked to these particular forest fires. This update comes on the heels of the tragic forest fires that swept through northern Algeria on July 24th, claiming the lives of 34 individuals and leaving 194 others injured.
