Nina Hayat, Algerian journalist and writer passed away on Friday September 16 following a long-term lung disease. Liberte Algeria reports that Hayat, the author of the famous books “the Night falls on Algiers (1995)”, chronicles published by Tiresias Editions, and “Dinghies and tears” (1998), spent most of her childhood in Paris and Berlin and discovered in her native country Algeria in 1963. Known as one of the symbols of the resistance against religious fundamentalists, Hayat had said in one of the interviews conducted with her, that writing “diffuses light”.
