The head of the Algerian armed forces, General Mohammed Lamari, was due to arrive Monday in Moscow for an official visit during which "certain contracts will be finalized," Algerian diplomatic sources said.

Russia is expected to deliver 22 SU-24 fighter planes to Algeria as part of a deal worth 120 million dollars, the Interfax news agency said last month.

General Lamari, whose 12-strong delegation is due to leave Moscow on Thursday, will also meet his Russian counterpart General Anatoly Kvashnin and Russia's Defense Minister Igor Sergeyev during his visit -- MOSCOW (AFP)
