An alleged female would-be suicide bomber traveling to Saudi Arabia was arrested overnight at Beirut airport, local media said Wednesday.
Reports in As-Safir and Al-Akhbar newspapers said a Lebanese army tip-off led to the arrest of Fatmeh Al-Khalida, a Syrian who had a plane ticket to Saudi Arabia.
Fatmeh was apprehended by General Security at Rafik Hariri International Airport late Tuesday.
A Lebanese army document stated that Khalida was among the suicide bombers who were planning to target the Iranian embassy under orders from Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, a Saudi national and Al-Qaeda leader in Iraq.
