H.E. Abdullah Sulaiman Al Hamadi, UAE Ambassador in Libya, today (Sunday) attended the official opening of the ‘UAE in Libya’ exhibition aimed at increasing bilateral trade relations between Libya and the UAE.
Al Hamadi was accompanied by Libyan officials and foreign diplomats as he toured the exhibition halls and met with many of the 90 UAE-based businesses represented at the government-led event taking place in Tripoli until 30th November.
A main player in driving increased foreign trade with the UAE, Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF) will be a key participant at the four-day trade fair and in addition to promoting the benefits of investing in the Free Zone, SAIF representatives will also act as ambassadors for the Emirate of Sharjah and its thriving business community.
“Our primary objective is to attract commercial interest in our Free Zone however we cannot do this without promoting the vast opportunities available in Sharjah itself.” confirmed Yasser M. Zamzam, marketing and sales officer, SAIF. “If we’re successful in generating new business, this event will also benefit the UAE as a whole with Sharjah accounting for nearly 48% of the country's industrial GDP.”
SAIF’s decision to travel to Tripoli in search of new investors was driven by unprecedented levels of interest from Libya over the last 12 months.
“We see Libya as the most promising market at present and therefore it is essential we capitalise on the current interest we’re experiencing,” said Zamzam.
Organised by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dubai Tourism and Commerce Marketing and Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority, ‘UAE in Libya’ will showcase commercial bodies like SAIF alongside a diverse mix of UAE-based companies and services including training and educational facilities, food manufacturers, healthcare and medical centres and hotel suppliers.
SAIF offers foreign investors state-of-the-art facilities, land on lease, sponsorship and visas for all staff and business practice free of red-tape.
The Free Zone, which currently has 2000 companies operating out of it, also provides access to ports in the Arabian Gulf and Indian Ocean and international air links across the world via its Sharjah Airport location.
‘UAE in Libya’ provides a unique opportunity to interact with Libya’s most influential bodies including ministries and government departments, embassies and trade commissions. The event is project managed by Dubai-based Streamline Marketing Group, supported by Emirates Airline as official carrier and backed by the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce and the Tripoli International Fairgrounds Authority.
