ALBAWABA - Axios reported citing multiple American and Israeli officials that Iran is preparing an attack on Israel as early as Monday in response to the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which Hamas and Iran blamed Mossad for planning.

Gen. Michael Kurill, the US general in charge of American forces in the Middle East, has arrived in the Middle East to prepare and take necessary actions against any attack carried out by Iran.

Iran has warned Israel after the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31 during his visit to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

According to Axios which cited 3 American and Israeli officials, Kurill's visit comes planned in preparation for any Iranian attack as he is set to redo the April 13 plan and mobilize the same international and regional coalition that defended Israel when Iran launched an attack on Tel Aviv.

On April 13, Iran fired about 300 drones and missiles towards Israel, the Israeli military said. The attack came in retaliation for the airstrike on the Iranian Consulate in Damasus, Syria that resulted in the killing of senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders.

The last attack by Iran contained 300 drones and missiles containing 170 drones, 30 cruise missiles and at least 110 ballistic missiles.

The Pentagon announced on Friday that the US Army is sending more warships and fighter jets to the Middle East amid fears of a possible attack.

According to American officials, the coming Iranian retaliation could be larger in scope, and it could also involve Lebanon's Hezbollah after Israel's assassination of senior Hezbollah leaders.
