A United States Navy ship carrying heavy military equipment sailed through the Suez Canal toward the Red Sea on Sunday, according to port sources in the Mediterranean city of Port Said, cited by AFP.

They identified the ship as the USNS Yano, which the US Navy lists as a Large, Medium-Speed, Roll-on/Roll-off ship designed since the 1991 Gulf war to haul large quantities of supplies to conflict zones.

The ship's cargo space equals nearly six football fields and can be loaded and off-loaded in 96 hours, according to the navy. Its final destination, however, was not known. (Albawaba.com)
