The American University of Sharjah (AUS), which has recently been licensed as an institution of higher education and authorized to award degrees by the State of Delaware, is greatly expanding its Academic staff.

The university has announced it is seeking candidates to serve as staff members in a variety of fields, including Business Management, Engineering, Architecture, and International Relations. The university is offering several high-ranking Associate Professor and Full Professor positions, and has advertised these positions worldwide. The new staff members who will be chosen are expected to joint the University by Summer 2002, well in time for the upcoming academic year.

A few months ago, University Chancellor Dr. Roderick S. French expressed the vision that has been driving the AUS in its remarkable growth: “From opening day, AUS President, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah has charged us with developing academic programs up to an American standard. We have done that."

Sheikh Sultan, an academic who has studied in the Middle East and abroad, is a driving force in the advancement of learning both in the UAE and beyond. The latest winner of the King Faisal International Award for Service to Islam, Sheikh Sultan is also a generous benefactor of his ‘alma matter’, Exeter University in the United Kingdom.
