Hacktivist network Anonymous published a video on Sunday threatening Israel that it would suffer if the illegal construction of Israeli settlements does not cease immediately.

The hacking group threatened to launch an attack on Israeli websites and to disclose sensitive information on Wednesday, the 12th anniversary of 9/11 attacks, if they do not “bend to public opinion,” according to the video posted by the group.

“People are being murdered, slaughtered, arbitrarily arrested and most of them are in a state of fear and terror. The long-forgotten truth is that you never had the right to establish a state in Palestine,” said the statement from Anonymous, addressing Israel’s government.

“Anonymous will attack where it will hurt the most and what is the only thing that dictates the action of world leaders: economics,” the statement said.

The video also criticized the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) recent statement threatening to dismantle the group as a terrorist organization. “If the FBI is truly committed in their search of terrorists, they should first check their own country or even their [own] building,” said the statement.

Israel has recently announced tenders for about 3,100 housing units in East Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank since peace talks resumed in July.

The EU is currently facing growing pressure from Israel and the U.S. to water down tough new guidelines restricting EU funding for institutions in Jewish settlements on Palestinian lands.
