Eleven people were killed and five injured in a collision north of the capital Cairo between a microbus and a truck on Monday, Egyptian police sources said.

The accident occurred when a microbus travelling at high speed on the Cairo-Alexandria desert highway collided at a curve in the road with a truck heading the same direction, the sources said, according to AFP.

Road deaths are common in the North African country of Egypt, where drivers often ignore speed limits and other regulations and roads are in poor condition. (Albawaba.com)
