The cream of Arab journalism was honoured Tuesday night at a gala ceremony by General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defense Minister.
The Arab Journalism Awards 2002 - the Arab world's most prestigious media honours - also saw a special new category dubbed the "Courage Decoration", which was bestowed on the entire beleaguered Palestinian media.
"We should also recall with great respect and appreciation, journalists who are martyred or injured," said Ibrahim Nafaa, Head of the Print Media Board, according to Gulf News.
Honours went to journalists who excelled in nine categories of Arab media - Best Column, Politics, Business, IT, Environment, Culture, Sport, Best Photograph and Best Cartoon. (Albawaba.com)
