Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa on Monday announced that the extraordinary Arab summit scheduled on Wednesday in Egypt's Red Sea resort Sharm el-Sheikh was postponed after the death of King Fahd of Saudi Arabia.  Musa said the pan-Arab body has decided to postpone the summit after holding consultations with member states.

He added the summit will be held within days and pressing regional issues, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, situation in Iraq and anti-terrorism efforts, will be discussed over as scheduled.

Answering a question over whether the new summit would be held before Aug. 15 when Israel is planning to commence its pullout from the Gaza Strip and the Northern West Bank, Musa said the AL has not decided on an exact date.
