The executive committee of the Arab Tourism Ministers Council will hold its 8th meeting Sunday at the head office of the Arab League General Secretariat. The three-day meeting will include discussion of joint action in the tourism sector.

On the committee’s agenda will be a report worked out by the technical secretariat, which will be discussed before submitting to the next Arab summit scheduled in Beirut next March, reported the Algerian news agency. The executive committee will examine the crisis of world tourism and its repercussions on Arab tourism following the attacks of last September 11 against the United States, which led to a world crisis in air transport, so essential for tourism. The secretariat will also present a survey on the liberalization of tourist services among Arab countries, to be discussed in the next Arab summit.

The technical secretariat of the Arab Tourism Ministers Council has passed on the council's recommendations and resolutions to Arab countries with a view to suggest measures to develop tourism and tourist investment in these countries, reported a statement issued on Wednesday by the Arab League's economic department.

The Egyptian capital is to host next February 5 to 7, the 4th Arab tourism forum with a view to facilitate the exchange of data and statistics with regard to the liberalization of tourist services and the means to strengthen the competitiveness of Arab tourism in the world. (www.albawaba.com
